Inniu, beidh clár ag teacht beo ó Raidió Pobail an Iúir in Iúr Cinn Trá.  Tá an Ghaeilge ag borradh i gceantar an Iúir agus Mhúrn faoi láthair.  Tá dhá chultúrlann ann – ceann in Áth na Long agus ceann in Iúr Cinn Trá.  Tá Gaelscoileanna fud fad an cheantair agus tá ceathrar fostaithe leis an teanga a chur chun cinn sa dúiche seo ó na Beanna Boirche i gContae an Dúin, trí Chathair an Iúir go sleasa Shliabh gCuilinn i gContae Ard Mhacha.  Inniu, ar Bharrscéalta, cloisfimid scéal na ndaoine atá taobh thiar den athbheochan Ghaeilge sa cheantar ársa seo.  Beidh an craoladh seo mar chuid d’imeachtaí Sheachtain na Gaeilge ag Comhairle an Iúir agus Mhúrn.

Today, Barrscéalta will be broadcast live from Newry Community Radio station in Newry.  The Irish language has experienced a revival in the Newry and Mourne district over the last number of years thanks to the hard work of several local groups and people.  There are now two cultural centres there – one in Annalong and one in Newry.  There are Irish-language schools, Gaelscoileanna, spread throughout the region, and there are four people employed full time to promote the Irish language. Today, on Barrscéalta, as part of the events of Seachtain na Gaeilge, we will learn about the work to revive the language, and the stories of those behind it.
