OVER ONE MILLION VIEWERS TUNE IN FOR THE SEASON FINALE OF LOVE/HATE

Last night’s season 4 finale of Love/Hate attracted an average audience of 1,007,500 viewers* with a 54% share**. The reach figure was 1,276,800.***

To date, Series 4 of Love/Hate has exceeded one million views on the RTÉ Player.

The season finale saw Glen shooting Wayne, Fran suffocating Andrew with a plastic bag and Tommy collapsing outside a warehouse as Nidge and the gang awaited their drug shipment’s arrival.

Head of RTÉ Television Drama Jane Gogan said, “I’m delighted with the viewing figures for the last episode. It’s quite rare in the modern world for a drama to perform at this level particularly with the scale of competition from other channels. It’s exciting to compete at this level with some of the best creative and production talent in Ireland and we look forward to meeting the challenge again next year. It is critical for RTÉ as a public service broadcaster to develop new voices and attitudes to a global standard and I think the Love/Hate team have achieved that this year.”

Producer Suzanne McAuley said, “We are absolutely thrilled with the ratings success last night. To hit over one million viewers in Ireland  is simply phenomenal. Our viewers and fans have been so supportive of the show. Word of mouth is certainly spreading, and let’s hope Love/Hate continues to be such a success, not just at home but also internationally. It is testament not just to Stuart Carolan’s writing, but to all those involved both in front of and behind the camera.”

The series average for the fourth series was 894,600 viewers with a 51% share, a rise of 146,600 viewers and 9% share increase from the third series which aired last year.

Series 4 of Love/Hate and the complete Love/Hate boxset of series 1, 2, 3 and 4 plus exclusive behind the scenes footage is available to purchase from today on www.rte.ie/shop and in all usual retail stores nationwide.
