Inniu cloisfimid an dara clár sa tsraith nua seo faoi Bhailiúchán na Scol.  Ba é Coimisiún Béaloideasa Éireann a chuir an scéim seo ar bun sna 1930í.  Iarradh ar suas le 100,000 páiste scoile ábhar a bhain le béaloideas agus stair áitiúil a bhailiú ina gceantair féin.  Sa tsraith seo, labhrann Mícheál Holmes le saineolaithe, le daoine a bhí ag bailiú fadó, agus le múinteoirí agus páistí scoile na haoise seo atá ag baint úsáid as an ábhar atá sa bhailiúchán, faoi.  Inniu, beidh Criostóir Mac Cárthaigh, cartlannaí, ag caint faoi chaomhnú agus leagan amach na gcóipleabhar i gColáiste na hOllscoile, BÁC.  Labhrann Máire Ní Ostair faoina taighde féin ar bhéaloideas eaglasta i gCo. an Chláir.  Cloisfimid freisin ó Bhróna Nic Amhlaoibh faoina spéis i gcluichí páistí ó iarthuaisceart na tíre, agus cur síos uaithi ar thráchtas a scríobh sí faoin ábhar.  Láithriú agus léiriú le Mícheál Holmes.  Tá an tsraith seo léirithe le maoiniú ón scéim Fuaim agus Fís de chuid Údarás Craolacháin na hÉireann.

Today, we will hear the second programme in a new series about the Schools’ Manuscript Collection, a scheme initiated by the Irish Folklore Commission in the 1930s to gather folklore material from school children all over the country.  It was possibly the largest single folklore collecting scheme ever undertaken.  Over a period of 18 months some 100,000 primary school children in Ireland were encouraged to collect material in their communities about local tradition and history.  Today, archivist Criostóir Mac Cárthaigh will tell us about the storage of the copybooks from the scheme in UCD.  Máire Ní Ostair talks about her own research on religious folklore in Co. Clare.  We will also hear Bróna Nic Amhlaoibh describe her own interest in children’s games from the northwest of the country, and the thesis she wrote on the matter.  Presented and produced by Mícheál Holmes.  This series has been funded by the BAI’s Sound and Vision.
