It’s been 20 years since Gay Byrne introduced Boyzone to the nation with that momentous Late Late Show appearance. For One Night Only he is re-united with the group for a remarkable interview which looks back over the 20 year career, celebrating some of their greatest hits along the way.
From touring the country in their white van on what they describe as ‘the window ledge tour’, to selling out stadiums all over the world, the boys talk about what life was really like at the top of the charts. But they were all still mammy’s boys at heart and even at the height of their fame they would jump on a flight at any opportunity to sleep in their own beds even if it was just for a couple of hours.
Life at the top of the charts took its toll on the group and in one of their most candid interviews to date, the band talk about what was going on behind the headlines when they split in 1999.
They are eternally grateful for the reunion in 2007 which gave them two great years touring with their ‘friend and brother’ Stephen Gately, prior to his tragic death in 2009. Although they are adamant that Stephen is very much alive when the four of them get together.
