History was made on Sunday in Croke Park as a Dublin man lifted the Bob O’Keeffe Cup for the Leinster
Hurling Championship for the first time since 1961. This week on Championship Matters the man
standing under the trophy, Dublin captain John McCaffrey will be live in studio to tell Marty about the
whole experience and where his team are going next.
Joining John will be two men who know all about breakthrough wins in their province, Waterford’s John
Mullane and Westmeath’s Dessie Dolan, who both helped their counties to historic provincial victories
in 2002 and 2004 respectively.
The lads will also be discussing two huge games on Sunday. In the Leinster Football Final Dublin will be
expected to continue their impressive progress but can Meath catch them in the long grass? Meanwhile
in the Gaelic Grounds Limerick are within touching distance of a first Munster title since 1996, with a
resurgent Cork standing in their way.
Vincent Hogan of the Irish Independent ponders who can write the final acts in the dramatic script that
is the Hurling Championship and Limerick’s Wayne McNamara takes the Hot Seat Quiz. So a cracking
show in store by the sounds of things.
