Not naked ambition, just determination…

Like many a twenty-something in recessionary Ireland, 29 year-old Sligo man, Joe Gallagher, is at a crossroads. Stripped of a job, tied to a house in mortgage arrears, out of luck in love and off the drink, Joe is tackling the issues head on. A body-builder with a financial background, he suddenly saw bare opportunity and grabbed it through a ‘back to work scheme’ as a stripper: birthday, hen parties, nightclubs and dancing. Stripped documents a week in Joe’s Sligo life as he grapples with the weight of a new business that has a barbell-uplifting twist.

Director: Glenn Gannon
Executive Producer: Anne Roper

RTÉ and Filmbase are delighted to announce the broadcast of the 2012 TV50 Doc on the Box winning entry, Stripped.
Stripped was made within the RTÉ TV Documentary Unit during the summer of 2012. 30 year-old Glenn Gannon, from Rosses Point in Sligo, won the contract to direct a 25-minute, original video documentary story. The story was to be aimed at a twenty-something audience and would be broadcast on RTÉ Television. The competition, launched to mark TV50 with a look forward at the next generation of documentary talent, was designed to encourage a fresh, emerging voice in video documentary direction. Glenn impressed the judges with an entertaining idea that still focussed on a dilemma many young people in Ireland face today.
