Format Farm – The Hit:

Presented by Laura Whitmore, The Hit is a real music competition that gives fledgling songwriters a chance to have chart success with an established star.

For songwriters, who are selling their songs to established music stars, the pitch is the most important part of this process and for the stars their most significant concern is to get the best song for a hit single.

From hundreds of submissions Grammy award winning music producer Steve Lillywhite, who has produced bands such as The Rolling Stones, The Pogues and U2, will select a shortlist of songs that will then be pitched to two established stars – Brian McFadden and Royseven.

The chosen songwriters pitch their songs to Brian McFadden and Royseven, with the hope that they will pick their one. The stars battle against one another and are under pressure to select one song they can turn into a hit. But ultimately it’s the audience who decide, as at the end of this pilot show two songs will be released in iTunes and viewers can download their favourite single. Which star will get The Hit?

This format was created by Vision Independent Productions and is backed by RTÉ and Warner Brother International.
